Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Having a Big Brother or Big Sister feels great, and being one feels even better. The sense of joy when your Little scores their first goal, or the pride you feel when you teach them to ride a bike for the first time, or the excitement you share with each other seeing Mickey Mouse. Sometimes, the conversation while just sitting at the park is the most fulfilling. Those are just a few of the amazing things you'll experience in being a Jewish Big Brother or Big Sister. As a Jewish Big Brother or Big Sister ordinary actions have an extraordinary impact on your Little Brother or Little Sister. Just being a constant and consistent friend adds more value than the activities you share with each other. The real secret to our success, and the reason why so many people continue to become Big Brothers and Sisters is because they get as much back as they give. The consistent message we hear from our Big Brothers and Sisters is that time and again, they feel blessed and enriched for being involved in a child's life. Since 1915 the organization has enlisted the help of thousands of volunteers to help mentor children through a variety of innovative, highly regarded mentoring programs and services regardless of a family's ability to pay, including a Jewish Big Brother Big Sister, one-to-one mentoring program for Jewish children; a non-denominational residential summer camp for underserved children, Camp Max Straus; Sports and Arts Buddies, two separate weekend mentoring programs for all children; Witherbee Wilderness Training; and Scholarships. If you would like to get involved with any of these programs, please contact us.
